On May 30th The Statesboro Revue played for the second time at the Bluesgarage. I didn’t know the band but got curious when I read their name on the schedule. And from what I read and heard on their website I immediately decided to see the show.
Their music is a nice blend of Southern Rock, Roots, Americana, Blues and Bluegrass. And Stewart Mann’s (Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Harmonica) voice fits the style of the music very well – an outstanding voice that you will remember! His brother Garrett (Electric Guitar) did an excellent and versatile performance on his Telecaster.
Very much old school Southern Rock style paired with that Roots Americana touch – I love it! Garrett Mann’s guitar and Travis Bishop’s Keyboards are a great combination here, the two were switching the solo parts of most songs and for some moments you could believe there are (the old) Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers or 38 Special on stage, just to give you an idea of the sound.
Ben Hussey (Bass) and Kris Schoen (Drums) make the picture complete forming a great and driving rhythm section.
B.t.w. – the band did an awesome cover of the Allman’s “Southbound” towards the end of the show
I have some colour photographs below. The black and white set was posted some days ago on bluesphotos already. I have also linked a youtube playlist at the end of this article
